Broadcom Single-port 2.5GBASE-T/1000BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet CMOS Transceiver - BCM54991EL
The Broadcom BCM54991EL is a single-port 2.5GBASE-T/1000BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet CMOS transceiver.
The device performs all physical-layer functions for 2.5GBASE-T, 1000BASE-T, and 100BASE-TX Ethernet on Category Cat5e, 6, or 6A twisted-pair cable.
The BCM54991EL supports the USXGMII, XFI, 2500BASE-R/2500BASE-X, and 1000BASE-X (SGMII) interface for connection to a MAC.
The BCM54991EL is a highly integrated solution combining digital adaptive equalizers, ADCs, phase-locked loops, line drivers, encoders, decoders, echo cancelers, crosstalk cancelers, and all required support circuitry.
The BCM54991EL features the Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) protocol. EEE enables the BCM54991EL to auto-negotiate and operate with EEE-compliant link partners to reduce overall system power during low utilization of the link. Broadcom’s AutogrEEEn mode permits legacy systems to enjoy the power saving benefits of EEE.
The BCM54991EL automatically negotiates an operating speed with any transceiver on the opposite end of the line.
The BCM54991EL features Enhanced Cable Diagnostics, which detects common cable problems such as shorts, opens, and cable length.
