Microsoft Identity Manager External Connector (MSIE External Connector) is a software solution that provides a single sign-on (SSO) experience for users who access applications that are not integrated with Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM). MSIE External Connector is designed to be used with MIM 2016 and later versions.
MSIE External Connector uses SAML 2.0 to provide SSO for users who access applications that are not integrated with MIM. When a user tries to access an application that is not integrated with MIM, MSIE External Connector intercepts the request and redirects the user to the MIM sign-on page. The user enters their credentials on the MIM sign-on page, and if they are authenticated, they are redirected back to the application that they were trying to access.
MSIE External Connector can be used with any application that supports SAML 2.0. Some of the applications that MSIE External Connector has been tested with include:
